Broker and Owner of Great Divide Realty, PLLC
Butte became our home in 1975. My husband's job transferred us to Butte. At the time, I was teaching biology at the high school that I graduated from located East of Billings. Our son was 18 months old at the time. Unfortunately, there were no openings to teach biology in Butte. The school enrollment was down and the underground copper mines had closed. I enrolled in an adult education real estate class. I obtained my real estate salesperson license in 1980 and broker's license in 1983. Approximately 10 years later, I opened Great Divide Realty as a full service real estate company and was the supervising broker for 20 years. In 2013, I closed my Butte office to focus on our own rental properties. I am currently in the Montana Regional Multiple Listing Service and a member of the Helena Association of REALTORS.
We started our office in a small remodeled home on a commercial street in Butte, MT. Eventually, we moved into a larger space across the street. The Butte office was a full service real estate office for 20 years. The owner is taking more time to spend with the grandkids, traveling and working towards retirement. If you are interested in being a supervising broker of a real estate business, please give me a call and I'll help you get started.
It has truly been a wonderful journey learning the real estate business and representing clients from all walks of life. I grew up on a dairy farm and graduated from Eastern Montana College (now MSU Billings) with a B.S. Degree in Biology. Hardly, did I know at the time, that my career would turn to real estate when we moved to Butte. As a real estate broker, it is important to also own real estate and to understand the tax laws related to the buying and selling of your property. Fortunately, in our business we have continuing education and classes related to tax laws, 1031 tax-deferred exchanges and the brokerage business to stay better informed and to help our clients.
